Advanced Quantitative Reasoning (AQR)
AQR- Advanced Quantitative Reasoning, a 4th year math credit that can be taken concurrently with Pre-Calculus, after Pre-Calculus or in lieu of. AQR is a statistics based course that applies mathematics in a real world setting. Developing and applying reasoning, planning and communication to make decisions and solve problems in applied situations involving numerical reasoning, probability, statistical analysis, finance, mathematical selection and modeling with algebra, geometry, trigonometry and discrete mathematics are just a few of the many areas of exploration in this class. Students conduct or search for research and delve into the mathematics side of real world situations to produce projects and/or presentations to ensure learning the proper TEKS. Most if not all assignments are completed in class, however, some outside of class research and group work may be required. Computer literacy, graphing calculators and problem solving are used extensively every day.
